Platforms/Versions

Color Finesse 2.1.11 running under Windows 7. Note that Color Finesse 2.1.11 was the first version which supported Windows 7.

Problem

Under Windows 7, the System Presets folder and the User Presets folder within the Reference Gallery are disabled and thus cannot be opened or otherwise accessed.

Solution

This problem is resolved in version 2.1.12 of Color Finesse.

The underlying problem is with a third-party library which does not support Windows 7 properly.

As a workaround, you can use the Load Settings command and manually navigate to the preset within the Windows directory hierarchy.

You can also try the following workaround, which some users have reported success with:

  • Locate the "Color Finesse 2 UI.exe" executable in "Program Files (x86)\Synthetic Aperture".
  • Right-click on the executable and open Properties.
  • In the Compatibility tab, enable Compatibility Mode and select "XP Service Pack 3."

Note that this workaround only works for After Effects and not Premiere Pro. It may also have cosmetic side-effects within After Effects.
